Hi all,
I am extending my DC layout and have a Lenz Compact plus have converted a number of locos to DCC.
No problems with the running of the locos and powering the track etc but ...
I have purchased some LS110 decoders to drive my points ( ultimately I want to computerise the layout ) and I have figured out how to set up the LS110's from my Compact and have successfully thrown a test point.
However when I try to throw a Peco point motor which is mounted on a base plate next to the point, the LS110 does not seem to deliver enough power to throw the point. I have supplied the LS110 with a seperate 16v 3A supply, as suggested and this does appear to provide a better source than from just the Compact.
I am using the default LS110 settings, although extending the pulse time to 1sec didn't cure the problem.
Is the problem that because of the base plate I am having to overcome 2 sets of latches : 1 on the base plate and 1 on the point ? Would it be better to mount the point motor below the point to reduce the number of latches i.e resistance ?
Points thrown from a CDU work fine. Can DCC be used to trigger a CDU discharge?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Try removing one of the latches. I think instructions are supplied with the baseplates or the motors to do this.
Try using the low power version of the peco motors.
Doug - Yes have read the instructions ( they are the same as those supplied with the LS110 ) but thanks for the link.
Sprogman - Will experiment with removing one or more latches as suggested.
Would rather not replace my point motors as I have about 25 on my layout!
Does the LS150 have a builtin CDU? or can you suggest any?
Thanks for responses - will let you know if I solve this problem as I am sure I won't be the last to have this issue.
The PECO catalogue recommends the PL-10W version of their point motor for DCC use. This has higher resistance coils and was originally designed for continental controller accessory outputs with a lower capacity (amp-wise) than British controllers.

I'm using the Lenz LS150 and it doesn't have a built in CDU, and whats more you can't use it to fire a CDU.
The Lenz LS150 uses 16Volts AC max 3amp supply, to power it, the DCC control just operates the internal switches to put this power out to the point motor.
Works great on my layout, using Seep PM1 point motors, and a seperate 16v 3amp power supply.
I've actually managed to set up a macro on the NCE Powercab to switch all 6 points works no problem.
It DIDN'T work using a smaller power supply, would only switch one point motor.
I was going to use a CDU but they need a DC input and as the LS150 uses AC can't be done.......well it can but not very easily or cheaply.
Having worked it out cost wise it was cheaper for me to buy the bigger power supply.
If you want to go PC controlled it may be better to find a different type of accessory decoder that gives a DC output so it can operate a CDU. I think ZTC controls do one not sure if it can be PC controlled.
