QUOTE (Richard Johnson @ 3 Feb 2009, 01:39) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>*** HI Neil

Its ages since I looked at a catalog, but aren't tigers/panthers/Mk4's part of the Roco Minitanks range... along with many other WW2 German guns, tank killers & other stuff etc...?

Richard
Hi Richard, they may well be. It's a long time since I looked at the Minitanks range too. I'll have a look and see what's available.

Hi John, I will probably try and source some photos first to get something to work from.
I just bought the World at War boxed set so I'm sure I can get some film clips of military trains. I spotted a streamlined BR05 in one yesterday when Hitler made his return from Paris.

Eisenbahn Journal may have a series on this which would help.

cheers

Neil

QUOTE (Brian Considine @ 2 Feb 2009, 17:09) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>AFAIK the Minitanks range has now passed to Herpa.

Indeed they are now Herpa Minitanks (from the beginning of 2008)

QUOTE (john woodall @ 1 Feb 2009, 06:11) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well, As I have a wee bit of knowledge I suppose I should impart some of it!

Basically by the time WW II was in full swing, the DRG had stopped putting Deutsche Reichsbahn on freight rolling stock and were just putting the letters DR on it.

Now the six axel SSyms flat car was in fact built to carry tiger tanks (might actually have been king tigers but not sure) east. The first ones were not produced until 1942.

Would the little sub have been transported on SSyms? Someone with a bit more knowledge on German subs that late into the war may know.

Cheers

John

The sub in question is here;

http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/shi...hund/index.html

First completed in Sep 1944, operational Jan 1945, 285 made, sank nine merchant ships and one French destroyer.

QUOTE (Bachmann Press Release)Liliput 2009 programme announced at Nuremburg

Liliput the Bachmann brand for continental models has announced several new models at the World famous Nuremburg Toy Fair which opened today (5th February 2009). These feature products in HO, HOe and G scales. The models announced include completely new models in addition to renumbered and reliveried models from European countries including Austria, Germany and Switzerland covering a number of Epochs.

Two of the main announcements relate to the completely new German freight tender locomotive 2-10-2 Class 45 No. 023 for DB Epoch III and the electric locomotive Class E10, No. 10 001 for DB Epoch III.

In addition there are tank locomotives Class 84, Loco No. 009 for DR Epoch II with its designated carriages and Class 71 for DR Epoch II.

The German two car Epoch III multiple unit ET 11 02 will be produced in Münchner Kindl colours. A second set of classic Epoch I Gotthard-Bahn carriages will be released with different fleet numbers to the first set. For DB Epoch III there are three new construction "Abteilwagen" carriages.

For Germany the FLIRT 3 car EMU in Berchtesgadener Land Bahn colours is announced along with more versions of the Swiss SBB 4 car FLIRT unit, both for Epoch 5.

The modern Fans-U tipping wagon now appears in the blue livery of the Austrian Wiener Lokalbahnen AG. Other Epoch 5 wagons are wagons for coiled steel with grey and yellow tarpaulin hoods. Another modern item of rolling stock is a couchette carriage currently seen across Europe on RALPIN HGV carrying trains featuring the latest livery.

A completely new construction is a 2-wagon Swiss Post container model for Epoch V with post containers. Also for Switzerland the tunnel car transport wagons of the BLS for Epoch IV-V get new fleet numbers.

A range of Interior lighting parts will become available during 2009 for coaches.

For HOe narrow gauge there is a diesel locomotive in STLB (Steiermärkischen Landesbahnen) livery for Epoch V. There are also new wagons and carriages.

For G scale there is a small diesel locomotive V11 of the type operated by smaller railway companies in Epoch IV and V. There is also a beer wagon "Spaten" used by the HSB (Harz narrow gauge railways) in Epoch V plus some log carrying wagons.

About 8 years ago Liliput did a TIGER tank, there were four in the set and I managed to get two of them, here is a pic of one of them, they have the small tracks for train transport, they could be driven on to the flat cars and along the flat cars if the braking system of the flat car was removed, they were shipped with only the red oxide paint and the camo was applied by the varios units that they went to, they could have the gun forward or backwards. Also with the Liliput flak wagen, I do have the camo version and the Officers coach of this. I have quithttp://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo59/scaletone/IMG_0300.jpge a few of the ROCO min tanks, the Flak 88 and trailer is quite an outstanding set, I do not have any of the stand alone mini Tanks, only the ones that came on flat cars with really nice details and camo piant. And two sets of the ME109 on two flat cars. The Artitec tigers look OK but IMO are very expensivet around $60 the spotted Tiger would not be for the Russian front, more like the Eastern front around Hungary, and /or for the battle of the bulge

Hi Neil,

I will hang on to the King tigers for the moment. Re my last post it is KING Tigers that I am talking about of course. Liliput still do the flat car, it is around for about E 14 so add the Artitec KT at E30 still not a bad deal for what it is is.

I will post a pic of my captured Russian tank on a DRGM flat car tomorrow by Roco know that I know how to post pics. How do you make the pictures stay on the page all the time instead of having to go to the link?

The authentic paint colour is still available to view on the BR05 001 in the Nurnberg museum. The same paint colour was applied to all three in the class.
