Strapped for space, thaen perhaps it's worth thinking about something like this:

It's 00 finescale and it lives in a boxfile. While I doubt that it would be practical in 7mm scale, I reckon that EM and P4 could work though restricted to industrial/swb types. Smaller scales and gauges would have even fewer restrictions.

Much as admire te craftmanship on this project it's too small for me. (no offence intended). If I was this much stymied for space I'd go Z scale. There was an excellent example at Rail Wells back in August built on multi levels, reverse loops and lots of shunting, all in a space not much larger than your suit case. Problem is you need a magnifying glass to work on your project then !

No offence taken MMAD; something this small is useful for try/honing new techniques. My more serious essays though on the small side are more practical in scope, like this.

Could be done as narrow gauge in 7mm!
