That's probably the easy bit !
Its probably going to be easier to remove all the wiring & any supression components such as chokes or capacitors. Make sure that both the motor brushes are completely isolated from the chassis.
Connect the black decoder wire to the pickups one side (usually the LH side in the normal direction of travel). Connect the red decoder wire to the other pick ups (it may improve the pick up if you add them to the center axel). Connect the grey decoder wire to the "LH" motor brush & the orange decoder wire to the other one. Insulate any other wires from the decoder if you do not need them.
Unless you require lighting or other fuctions I would suggest either a TCS or the Bachmann 3-function (which is a rebadged ESU) decoders - both good & resonably priced.
