Hi all,

Recently i bought a chassis for the experimental diesel shunter LMS 1831 as pictured here .....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMS_diesel_shunter_1831

the chassis is complete being made from brass scratch built but the body is plasticard templates with the intention it is to be made from brass sheet, as can be seen from this picture http://nick--orwin.photoblog.me.uk/p51034006.html the chassis needs the connecting rods adding but it runs well in both directions my main problem being conversion to DCC.
All i can find for reference on a google search is the wikipedia page and a photograph of 3 gents next to the loco, does anyone know of any other pictures or better still line drawings for this loco .

Many thanks

Found and purchased a farish jinty on ebay for comparison to the body and see what goes it may be a better base to use for the body.

Hi steamrailuk,

Many thanks for the link helps the research more i have got a farish 3F dcc'd ready for the bodywork to be formed more in keeping with the loco than the scratchbuilt one i bought at the start of this project, the 3F needs some weight adding for the chassis to run well on DCC the same as some 08's i have found.

I was in York the other weekend but didnt get a chance to go to the NRM properly ............... a trip there combined with a visit to my sister would be good idea.

QUOTE very good, whats it like inside the nrm? been many years since i last went.

I was in between connections on my way back from Sunderland and only saw the bits and pieces part of the NRM where the royal trains exhibits are kept and a few steamers one 'Winston Churchill'

http://nick--orwin.photoblog.me.uk/p52597085.html

a full trip to the main hall would reveal what is there now.
