LMS coaches

Hello I am a new member, but I am interested in buying LMS coaches (00) also goods wagons 1950"s.

As I often say - one of the best places to get a reasonable selection of new and secondhand stock is at a local exhibition. I don't know where you come from but guessing from the name I would say somewhere in the Midlands, in which case you should have a wide choice to choose from.

You are of course not limited to LMS coaches as by the 50's the BR mk1 was well established and stock from all regions could often be seen on through trains.

Actually you are correct, , well nearly, lol, we are "Midlanders", but now live in Bletchley, because we moved from Nuneaton to Bletchley with my job on the railway.

I'm just getting things together for the first time in thirty years so I've been looking around for second hand LMS coaches and I've had really good luck with e-BAY. Don't bid much more than £5 a coach (hopefully less!) and remember that the postage will add a couple of quid to that. Some nice Mainline ones went tonight for £3-£5 each. Beware earlier Hornby ones though as they are just coloured plastic and Limas look to me like red Mark 1s with LMS decals. The old Graham Farish ones look really nice but I suspect they are niot prototypical.

***Actually the bodies of the Old 4mm scale Graham Farish suburbans are quite accutate 54' coaches - the underframes etc are pretty bad though.... The airfix/mainline/bachmann are generally OK although detail shows its age compared to current stuff, ride height is slightly wrong and the wheels need replacing with metal.
