Hi All
I've just been surfing around the net looking for info on the LNER P1 Class 2-8-2 & stumbled across a thread in RMWeb. I'm sure some members of this forum are also members there so maybe already seen it, but if not google "rmweb gresley 2-8-2" & have look. The builder (Graeme) has kitbashed the most excellent P1 I've ever seen & if you follow the thread from the start there's also a couple of pictures of a Bachmann V2 he has modified using a Hornby A3 boiler. If, like me, you enjoy building the odd kit & turning a few RTR items into something else I'd recomend having a look as this guy is an inspiration & I think he's probably a better model maker than many who've had articles published in magazines.

Cheers

Paul,

It is rather good. Mr King has been published, he certainly did an Ivatt large atlantic which I think appeared in BRM, possibly a couple of years ago. Given the copious photographic record he made of this project, I shouldn't be surprised to see a mag article at some point.
Well that's no surprise I suppose , that Mr King has had his work in print. With those kind of skills I think he would have plenty of respect ,even from the likes of Mr Wright, no doubt being of Eastern bias BRM would have been the obvious mag to look in. I built a P1 a number of years ago that I'm still quite happy with but it's rather pale next to Mr Kings creation. Still, he's provided plenty of photo's that explain how he achieved the result, so if I ever decide to send it to the works for an overhaul I've picked up a number of ideas for improvement.

Cheers

I'd love to have a go at building a P1, but in the meantime here is a drawing I did some time ago. View attachment 1040
