This may sound strange, but is it possible to easily remove the weathering as applied by Bachmann and Hornby, without damaging the paint or lining? The only locos I have are in pristine condition, and my local shop has a special offer on a weathered loco, but they wouldn't let me try removing the weathering before I buy it
I don't have the skills to weather my other locos to match.

Help!!!!

Its a Hornby LMS 8F, £66. I am sure I'd read somewhere that the locos were fully painted and lined, then sprayed again to form the weathering. Assumng that the normal paint is covered by a layed of laquer, I had though the weathering would remove fairly easily. I was only kidding with the shop assistant when I suggested giving it a good clean first!!!!
