Slightly sad news there. Access to the Hackworth et al works buildings, cottages etc. is necessarily restricted until restoration is completed; target date of 2025 if I understand the situation correctly. Still good to visit the collection, but I did like the 'early railway' evidence: "Here's my house, and if we just cross these tracks, that's where I build the locos and wagons". Wonderfully evocative of the beginnings...

Hello 34C

Your description sounds inviting.
Good to hear some ear-to-the-ground updates for 2025.
The whole shebang will be an evocative event.
I have a 3 1/2 inch gauge live steam Tennant 2-4-0 which I am almost sure was built before 1925.
And I am of the opinion it was probably presented in some way at the 1925 event, because it was minimally repainted to represent its late 19th C paint scheme.
Whether I get there in 2025 I don't know because I will be 80 years of age by then.

Much more significant I would suggest: so long as you have your health, age is only a number.

But then there's the 'global disruption' position to consider as 2025 comes along. Who knows where we will be at...
