Hi Paul
I am building my layout in the loft also started mine back in march this year. As it has been pointed out there are some good points and some bad points to putting a lay out up there very hot in summer and cold in winter. I have taken loads of photos as I build my layout to keep a step by step picture diary to show friends, family & anyone who intrested.

I run 12 locos and have 16 coached and 20 wagons so far. I started on DC but very quickly moved on to DCC useing a basic bachman EZ command which alowes me to run 3 off my larger trains at the same time i have run 2 large loco's & 2 small loco's at once with this system it works well for me but i am looking at getting a better DCC system as i now have to many loco's for the EZ command system.

Here is the link to my step by step photos

The Honda 2000 & General Lee run on an old Axis 2 chassis and the BMW & Nissan run on a MI2 chassis. The Porsche is a tamiya kit i think its the old TL1 chassis the big rig is a tamiya copy as the real i am are out my price range.

Thanks for looking Norman

Hi Paul
I think most people on here use this site photobucket you need to set up a free account upload your photo's then the site gives you a link so your photo's can be posted on this forum or any other forum. Good luck.

Hi Paul
Just caught up with your thread, as a fellow lifer in the attic hello. I suppose I`m a little luckier than most as my attic is quite large however I only use one side. Mainly due to money constraints and where do I put everything else that normally clutters ones attic.
Your link to your web site seems ok but once there was unable to find the link to your layout.
Regards Mike

How are you finding the temps in your loft?

I've not had a chance to do any work this last 6 weeks due to studying for exam for work. Looking forward to putting in a good month or two of work before summer halts the build process.

I don't find our loft that cold in Winter. I put the little heater on and its fine. I was working on the layout over Christmas without feeling too cold. I think if temps were going to affect locos and stock then it would probably be worse in heat and expansion - although I've had some locos up there for nearly two years without problems.
