Hi upnick,
I have the three parter by R T Watson from Continental Modeller (many years ago - pages don't carry dates and bodies of mags long gone, sorry) on Big Boys and the intro starts:
"The Russians have an old proverb, "There comes a point where quantity takes on a quality that is all it's own".
I've never forgotten that remark in context, and hold it true of US Railroading in general (yes, I know a little of short-line operations - and take great enjoyment from their modelled form too).
