Having completed my O Gauge Brit, I’m now looking for something that’s a bit more challenging. I’ve been looking around for a live steam Gauge 1 kit and am finding them few and far between. Im looking specifically for a standard class 5, 7 or 9. Obviously there is nothing out there that I can find. Ive seen the Barrett website which comes closest but they have nothing available or planned of interest to me.

Any ideas of other places to look or places to ask questions would be appreciated. Or am I being too picky? Thanks I advance.

I know that there are plenty of ready to run Gauge 1 locos available but I wonder if Gauge 1 is considered a bit on the small side for live steam kits?
At this point you are on the edge of model engineering territory. Maybe a search for Gauge 3, or 2.5" gauge might lead to some off the shelf kits.

I agree but Gauge 1 fits my size criteria, Gauge 3 just pushes into slightly unmanageable territory in terms of size and weight. Barrett are producing an LMS Jubilee from January over 12 months. This is as close aesthetically as I can find to what I want for now so my plan is to keep looking over the next year and if nothing crops up pick up Barrett Jub if there are any left out of their batch of 40.
