Hi all,
I've got an LSWR Adams 02 on the way here and wondered if anyone knows of a sound file for it. Any help appreciated.

One possibility would be to enquire of Kernow Models, as they had this item produced.

Thanks 34C and Jeff. I'm sure I wrote a reply a couple of days ago. I emailed Kernow and they said Youchoos, but I and a friend have each had a sound file from there and we were both disappointed to say the least. Also, I'd have to send my decoder to him as he can't do downloaded sounds.

Interesting that you didn't like YouChoos sounds. They do have some previews on their website, and a few video clips which may help assess the individual projects. I and a friend over here are very happy with the YouChoos steam sounds, owning several between us, but I can't say I am so impressed by their diesel and electric sounds, judging purely on the previews online (I don't actually have any of those).

Speaker installations do make a huge difference to sounds, regardless of their sources and which manufacturer's decoders are used, and I find a bit of experimentation helps - it is fiddly to keep soldering and desoldering speakers, but it is worth it in the longer run.

Hi Jeff,
Both of the sounds I wrote about were diesel. Youchoos don't do a sound specific for the 02, so I had a look at Digitains (my go to shop) and decided I'd go with either an M7 sound or Beattie well tank. As I've all ready got a Beattie with sound, I'd probably go for the M7, which I think would be closer. I just wonder how much room there is in the bunker for a speaker.

Using YouChoos sounds, I had to choose an alternative Drummond sound for my Hornby 700 class, selecting either the M7 or the T9. I opted for the T9 and altered the synchronisation with the wheel revolutions to match - John from YouChoos was very helpful with this.

As for how much room there is in the AdamsO2, I really cannot answer that. I only fitted a plain decoder in mine, so have not really looked at whatever extra space is (or is not) available.

As an aside, I did fit YouChoos sound in one of my Bachmann E4 0-6-2T locos, and that had precious little spare room. I ended up cutting away the decoder socket mounting and hard-wiring the decoder in, then sat a sugar cube speaker with a curved top on top of the decoder. That combination just squeezed into the boiler barrel behind the smokebox. Again, I can't say how much that may help you with the O2, but it does show that if you can think laterally, you should be able to find a viable solution.

Yes I can think laterally all right, but it's always good to go in with a bit of knowledge up front. I've hard wired decoders in to split chassis' so this shouldn't be a problem.

Last time I spoke to him which would have been a year or two back, he said he couldn't do the downloads. Thanks for letting me know things have changed.
