QUOTE (bangerblueed @ 4 Aug 2009, 17:12) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>No not quite but it is difficult to find so its easier to take prospective new members to see the clubhouse although directions are freely given to any prospective new members wanting to see the facilities . There is very little of worth at the clubhouse but its the damage thieves cab do and I believe it did happen in the past at a previous clubhouse

QUOTE (Mainthreadmartin @ 29 Aug 2009, 19:06) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Our clubhouse is also rural, so we are cautious about publishing the address.

Saddly the world is not an honest place, so we have to protect ourselves whilst balancing the need to make ourselves known to those interested in the hobby. Our website has contact details and we try to get an idea of someones "level of interest" from the initial contact.

You make light of and mock our choice to be "secretive" but if you have ever suffered the devastation of a burglary at home or work you will know how this changes your attitude to being open about information.

That sounds very sensible bangerblueed, and I'm sorry if I sounded mocking Mainthreadmartin - not the intention*. I fully appreciate the need to take these sorts of precautions, especially as it is often the mere prospect of their being something worth stealing that makes vandals and yobs cause a huge amount of damage, aside from the glee they obviously feel in gratuitously destroying the careful work of others. If I were running a club I would be taking exactly the same measures...

Bring back hanging, or simply use a bolt-gun? Nothing wrong with occasionally skimming the scum off the surface of the melting pot of humanity I think, afterall what is 6 billion less 100 million of the worst? 6 billion!

*I just remember being part of secret societies at school and so couldn't resist extrapolating...

(I note MI6 have scrambled my link to an image of the top secret base...)

and we dont publicise our address either for exactly the same reasons as others - theres an old saying about being once bitten twice shy - in other words we learn by our mistakes after we got burgled a few years back!!

Hi,

Any chance you could add Milton Keynes Model Railway Society to the map? We are based in Bletchley Park and can be contacted at the following address:

Milton Keynes Model Railway Society, c/o The Mansion, Bletchley Park, Sherwood Drive, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, MK3 6EB

Our website is at: www.mkmrs.org.uk

We meet on Tuesday and Friday nights from 7.00pm - 10.00pm. Also, we are open to the public as part of the Bletchley Park complex at all weekends when the park is open (nearly all weekends except Christmas). Last year we had over 23,000 visitors.

Please let me know if you need any further details.

My email is: [email protected]

Thank you,

Ian

I would like to see Heckington MRC added please?

Postcode of NG34 9JJ (we are housed in the musium/station buildings, which are surprisingly secure with the age old iron bars on windows and a damn good alarm!)

The friendly local model railway club. Modelling model railways in various scales and gauges from N gauge to G scale and all others. Our club has many layouts that are available for exhibitions. We also have Members layouts that are availble for model railway exhibitions. Quite a few of our members arrange Model Railway events as fund raisers for our local community causes. ie. School and Church fetes and Christmas bazaars, etc.

Hello

Can you add Twickenham & District MRC please?

We have our own sub-forum here on MRF but somehow we never made it onto the clubs map.

We meet on Fridays from 7.30pm at Kerswell Hall, Wills Crescent, Whitton TW3 2JF.

We have two OO layouts, two N, O and G.

Our website is www.tdmrc.org.uk

I don't wish to be negative, but it appears that the map hasn't been updated and clubs added for years.

Twickenham MRC asked to be added in April 2015 and it hasn't been done yet.

I believe it hasn't been updated since the new owner took over. I think the new owner doesn't have the 'codes' to update it.

Perhaps a moderator could clarify please.

As far as I know the map of model railway clubs is separate from the software that runs the forum which is all that the moderators have access to. So any changes would have to be done by the owners/admins not the mods.
