Market Harborough

Good evening

I'm planning to model Market Harborough station, branch lines and lines to Rugby. Northampton etc in approx 1959

Could any learned readers point me to publications/books/monographs that might be useful? ISBN numbers if possible so that I can ask Mr Quinn the bookseller in MH ( very helpful), to do the necessary digging

regards JV

If you check out this website http://www.mulehouse.demon.co.uk/stations/index.htm you should be able to identify a number of books with photos of Market Harborough. A fantastic resource, if a little time-consuming tracking down each of the references. Unfortunately it only tells you that there is a photo, not what it shows, date etc. and doesn't identify duplicates. It may be cheaper to get your library to obtain the volumes required, or checking on the forum once you have done your homework to find the best sources.
There are a couple of pages in British Railways past & present Leicesterhire ISBN 1-85895-798-4 not much but it gives a picture of the station as it was in 1956, I seem to recall that a modern image but with the track still as it was in the 50s was done in Railway Modeller in July 2005. Hope this helps. I live in Mkt harborough so if you want any photos of it as it is then let me know.
Hi ,

You may find TRACK DIAGRAMS OF THE LONDON & NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY AND ITS SUCCESSORS , SECTION 5 NORTHAMPTONSHIRE PUBLISHED BY WILD SWAN PUBLICATIONS MORE THA USEFUL. ISBN 0 906867 62 2

PAGE 26 SHOWS MARKET HARBOROUGH TRACK DIAGRAMS IN 1880, 1899, 1960 AND 1968.
