Does anyone know the answer to this? are the marklin mobile station and the trix mobile station the same item apart from the makers name. They look the same, just wondered if the spec was different. Look forward to your informative answers, thanks.

They´re completely different.

The Märklin product can access (only) mfx and Motorola (iirc) protocol decoders. The Trix Mobile station can "speak" DCC and Selectrix protocol. Even the displays are different, as Märklin features different symbols on its station (the display is not all dot matrix).

The other issue you may wish to take into considerationis that the Maerkiln controller is for three rail AC whereas the Trix is for two rail DC.

They are made by the same company though.

The Ecos can control all these protocols and currents if that interests you.

Thanks for the information, wondered why one was much cheaper than the other, won't be buying the Marklin system then.
