Has anyone tried one of these? Are they any good?

I have just found out these run through Germany so I can legitimately run these on part of my layout and want one.

One of these....?

We had a couple of the ones in start sets & they ran very well & looked good - AFAIK there are two versions, the start set one & the "standard" one with the standard one having interiors & more detail.

I have a mate who has one. It's from the hobby range and looking at it you can tell and I believe with a 3-pole motor. That said I think I'd be happy to have one, It runs OK (he has a ten car rake).
The up-coming Lima one has a 5-pole but as yet no extra coaches.

That's right.

So the standard one would be the one to go for. What sort of quality are they Lima/Hornby? or Bachmann or other?

I think the TGV POS is already running into Germany on "LGV Est européenne" and the ICE 3MF running back into France the other way, allowed because of the new European rail signalling system. This is a very similar (the same?) train to the Thalys one?

Although this TGV POS is actually the single one owned by the
judging by the red blur on the side!!

Yes, one of those would be nice too.

Goedel, you are correct - the French TGVs are going into Germany via Strasbourg. I haven't seen any ICE 3's yet though
I've had a chance to be on this train a number of times first class (One of the only good things of having the European Parliament being half based in Brussels and half based in Strasbourg) - the new seating arrangement is quite nice!

I own a Mehano Thalys (and a Lima Thalys too) - they run really well actually, have been very happy with the sound of the motor. The Mehano Thalys, I'd almost be tempted to say runs better than the Lima one.
