In light of Andii's efforts on Broughton & Marwood, its has inspired me to get back into my garage and plant some hairy grass using "hanging basket liner"

A quick trip to the garden centre and some was purchased, £2.00 a metre, so back I came

No pics to show yet as camera battaries are flat, but I think I can give me bro a run for his money!!!

Will start planting trees tomorrow and may even ballast the track on this last board! Will need to come up with a good barrow crossing first, the one I have made is not good enough

Here are some pics of the end board off Milldale.
These pics show the area beyound the station end. The scenic break is the free lance road over bridge. Behind the runnig lines is going to be my BOC plant, still needs painting white and the office block is still only a shell. Will add some other cylinders and plenty of pipe work.

At thetop of the hill above the BOC plant is an area of demolition, am going to put a secruity frence around it to keep the vandles and kids out!

Have started to put in the posts for the secruity fence round the back of the BOC plant.

The trees will need to be detailed up. need to get some more cheep hair spray first! and plenty more of them

Ballasting will follow as son as I make a new barrow crossing.

Hope you enjoy the pics

Plant Evergreen Grass Leaf vegetable Groundcover

Plant Building Shade Fixture Wood

Thanks Neil,

All they are are the seamoss from international models (can be googled or found in most mags) with flock from different suppliers of various shades.

All I did was to first plant them to make sure that they looked okay. then one at a time sprayed them with lots of cheap hair spray (well ventallated area needed) (removed from scenery first)then sprinkle with the flock, repeat 2 - 3 times using different shades, then I planted in a spare block of polystreine and gave a final good coating of hair spray, leave for 10 mins to dry and replace back on the layout

Here are some pics of the completed trees, have run out now so need to buy more sea moss

Just a couple of new pics, Andii popped up for a brew and Milldale started talking so we listened and heres what it had to say:

Looking under bridge towards station

Looking though the other arch

Looking down platform 5

The rear of Tesco's

The reworked rock face

More rock face

Over view of new rock face and more grass added

All needs the boundry fencing and the buildings finishing, but will get round to it soon!

Enjoy

QUOTE (Brian Considine @ 20 Jun 2008, 20:53) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Very nice - especially like the "Knights of Old" truck -always thought it was a smart livery & logo.

Thanks Brian,

The truck is Andii's and is on loan for sizing up purposes. The truck backed into what will be Tesco's will be replaced with an Eddie Stobart one and the Knights with some other branded truck.

QUOTE (Brian Considine @ 21 Jun 2008, 11:04) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Often you see layouts with road vehicles in places that there is no way they could have got into position without the aid of a crane. The Hornby advert for the circus vehicles if a case in point (oh - sorry, I forgot I'm not allowed to critisize Hornby). Excellent way of creating a backscene - if you had more space you could model all the "non-Tesco" trucks waiting at the RDC whilst the "Tesco" ones jump the queue

The other units to Tesco's right are going to be the delivery doors for the retail park, stores like PC WORLD, TOYS R US etc so will give plenty of scope for other trucks.

It was designed to have the road coming on scene and with an exit on scene, will be alot better when the drive though is cmpleted on KFC next to Tesco, will have to go and buy a bucket for the signage!!

Off to watch F1 quali now, catch you all later

Thats because its invisable!!! you need to run at the wall with an owl in a cage

Hogwarts Express will then appear chasing a Ford Anglia

But as this is a preserved railway Olton Hall will make an apperiance. (that gives me an idea, who wants to play 'wheres wolly?' but with Hogwarts Castle aka Olton Hall)

QUOTE (neil_s_wood @ 5 Jul 2008, 00:51) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Coming along nicely Brian.

I got some of the seamoss and Anita Decor foliage after seeing it here and made some trees with it yesterday. It's brilliant. Best trees I have seen. Thanks for the tip.

Your welcome, I got a 'forest' sized box, didnt go very far, more like a small wood!! Going to have to order another couple of boxes I think. Hopefully Andii will get up in his loft today and make some for Broughton & Marwood (will be this afternoon as its Silverstone Quali at lunch and I think he is at Grantham watching No 60007 take water this morning)

Finally got into the garage today as SWMBO is at work and didnt leave me a wedding to do list.

Worked on the secruity fench behind Centary Park, back is now knackered, eye sight gone, but all worth it

Its all from the Ratio range, the wire mesh was sprayed with grey primer as the white was too bright, and the 3 wires on the top are 6lb fishing line (provided by father in law to be)

Hope you like

Next is the fencing around the BOC Plant

QUOTE (Brian Considine @ 21 Jul 2008, 19:53) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The security fence looks good - how about some "plastic bag leaves" to decorate the barbed wire at the top ?

If you can think of how to make them, I will be decorating the fence top!

Kind words, thanks

Back to work today, have got a new General Manager starting, only a baby sitter until the hotel is sold, but he will still be the boss, still, I am only around for another 6 weeks then off till end of September!!!

Time to update this thread,

Not alot has happen over the winter, to bloody cold in the garage, and other thing got in the way (wedding, christmas, redunancy....) but weather in improving so have tyied out the garage and new shed, and am now getting back into railway construction mode. A working party has been arranged for end off the week and I hope to get alot done (Andii, bring back the station building)

Once the weather is more stable, and the job front sorted, I am fimally going to lag the garage walls and roof, intall some heating and put a humidifier or de-humidifier (not sure which one is going to be correct)

Pics of Milldale will of course follow

Off to go and do some modelling now

Well the working party has been and gone, not as much was done as would of liked, but a little progress none the less

Some signage has appeared on the retail park, some more trees planted, a new deralict boiler house and chimney have grown up out of the trees, fencing around the BOC plant has been painted and secured in place and major surgery on the platforms has occurred,

Andii brought up a couple of his new Hornby teaks for me to pose with East Anglian, only trouble is that they are fatter than the older versions and didnt fit in the station, bugger! Off came the topping, ut came the rasp and plain and some juditial re-gauging occured. New tops where purchased from Skeggies' branch of Wilkos, the computer provided some new edging stones and all was back.

Other additions since the working party are a new water tower, which is modified from the Dapol kit, and an extention to the main station building. Work also started on detailing the road over bridge surface, but it was to ruddy cold to finish it, will go out later and have another go at ths are if the wing drops later

Hope you all like the update, more to follow soon

Well here is another update (I know, 2 on the same day! or even the same week!)

Wind dropped so I had the garage door open to get to the road over bridge end, and was able to get what I wanted done. Road surface applied, both pavements layed (452 slabs individually placed) and the fence up

Will add some street furnature once the glue on the fence has dried, already have some lights (none working) and some iron pieces along with some road signs in my box of bits

Enjoy the pics
