Well here it is - my HO scale Atlas SD-26 in its Guilford colours. Interestingly Guilford is probably the most despised railroad in the US! How typical that I should choose to model them.
I wonder if I would have stuck with Guilford had I known that beforehand. I'd like to think i would have.
Anyway it has lots of fine detail and it's a brilliant slow runner and will comfortably stroll the 9 ft of track [approx] from end to end of my old tabletennis table in a tick under 1min 50secs. That's on DC, with my old Clipper controller [British-made

"Did you weather that yourself Mike?" - Neil - Yes I did, using some acrylic paint and various chalks. It's the first time I've attempted such a thing, but I had plenty of good photos to work from.

"How can a railroad be despised? I mean why? Do they carry nuclear waste and run over baby reindeer?"
- Ironduke
You'd think so! Maybe on weekends. Actually they took over 3 seemingly ailing railroads back in the 80s and closed a number of lines. A great shame, no doubt, but it's a fair bet that if they didn't do it, somebody else would have.

"does it have individual lifting hooks on the roof or are they moulded on?" - Pedromorgan It has 10 minute circular eyelets on the roof, that a fine thread might just be able to get through. Factory fitted, thankfully. They're so small you can't see them in the photo, but each one's perfect. I'm guessing that's what you referred to, Peter...?
Regards,
Mike
