In my recent experience, model railway equipment is a very long way down the list of desirable, resalable items. Be sure to lock up your lap tops, mobile phones and compact digital cameras. It seems anything at all specialised is not of interest to the average burglar or house breaker. Of course "firms" who do whole house jobs are a different matter but I still wonder would they want model railway kit?
I'd still have a good lock on the door. It will act as a deterrent.
