Moving on from my previous layout start Louth 1990 I've decided it was too much of a compromise to represent a real place.

Moving on to a Terminus station based on the Town of Caistor in Lincolnshire, a railway was planned by never built. The layout features a small yard, 3 platforms and a private owner line coming in from a Limestone Quarry near Swallow.

Platform 3 will be modelled as semi derelict. The line will be used to stable the loco's for the quarry traffic.

been a few alterations to the track plan. You know how it is, you're doing the physical stuff and notice something looks better elsewhere.

47474 stands in what will be Caistor platform 1 with a London bound train. In my timetable these 4 coaches couple up to another 4 that start in Cleethorpes at Louth. This is the leading part of the train so I get the excuse of using large loco's on short trains.

Station throat, controller in position.

After a clean up similar shot to the first pic. The old trackbed from the previous design is visable as is where the good shed will be going now.

Hi Dave
Looks to be coming along well, this set up should give you plenty of operational scope. Must say in the last
picture that bottle, looks like white spirit seems precariously balanced on the end of the shelf. Will look
forward to future updates.

Cheers Dave

Thanks Dave & John.

John, it seems to be a common thing on the longer points and slips.

Dave,

The bottle has been moved, it's Meths.

I'll be posting an updated track plan soon. The first one is totally off now what with the goods shed moving.

Mike.
oh yes, I've never been one for 100% accuracy. I'll settle for 75%. You'll see an early 90s 47 in pre-RES livery next to a green 31 with a class 117 (Not common in lincolnshire lol) sitting in platform 2a lol

Right, finally got around to sorting out the layout diagram. This is not the Signal Box diagram, but does show similar information.

Please note, the scenic section of the layout ends just to the right of Depot Lane. All signals will be operational, those off scene powering Fiddle Yard throat.

All track circuits will be active using a high frequency signal passed through the loco motor.

Well after some minor issues with the shed roof. I repaired the damage and cleared up the floor..

Found my second work bench and finished installing the second ring main.

got the signal box block shelf installed - again!

Now all i have to do is get some sort of heater to stop the condensation that builds up on the inside of the roof. Then I can get back to laying track.

It may pay you to "double skin" the inside of the roof with something like plywood & some insulation - should stop the condensation & make it warmer in the winter & cooler in the summer.

At the minute it's bitumen sheeting that is crudely mated to the T&G on the old shed next to it. When the spring comes again i'll be replacing the whole lot in new T&G.

QUOTE (Jimsig @ 22 Dec 2010, 12:03) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hi Dave,

Looking like a nice layout. Signalling Layout is interesting.

Kindest Regards

JIM Tyers

cheers Jim.

It has altered a little. Since the roof leaked my cardboard model of Louth Goods shed now resemble the shed after demolishion :lmafao: so i've removed the goods lines and replaced them with another platform.

This is the new signal box diag. Comms between Caistor and Grasby will be a self developed mix of AB and Tokenless Block on the Main single line and Single line TCB on the "goods loop"

This is the "ground plan" for the scenic section of the layout. I made an error with the Quarry line to single goods loop. Point is in the incorrect place.

In reality Lincolnshire Wolds Iron ore was absolute junk. In this time line it is excellent quality.

Depends in what way lol. My partner won't let me go further to the end of the garden, thats her veg patch, or it will be when i've cleared it!
I've done a deal though, i'll bring a flying loop of track over it with hose pipe underneath it linked to the water butt. She gets to warter the patch with the flick of a tap and i get more track to play with lol.

hopefully the water hasnt caused to much damage

Water damage is limited to the far side of the layout where the water comes off the roof, but because i followed the advice of "Expat" I'd painted the boards in a solvent based paint so the water just sits there until i dry it off. Water also drips off the clear sheet in the roof, hence the puddle.

No QRM at all unless the layout is running lol. Only operate on 2m, 4m, 70cms and 23cms so all is well. Did get a little on the CB channels thanks to a neighbour get BPL, but OFCOM dealt with it. All is good.

What you might find very useful is a dehumidifier. Great for removing water from the air also get that roof insulated with the thick 2" type hard insulated material used to dry line walls.
