QUOTE (john woodall @ 31 May 2008, 21:55) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>From a married man of 10 years I offer this one point of advice.

If you see a model in a shop window, you should take the time to stop, admire it, point out its good and bad points to your new wife, enter the shop and buy something. This should be repeated at every hobby shop you pass. Multiple purchases at the same shop is allowed

Get well soon

John

good advice but i think multi purchases will land be on a return visit to hospital!

SWMBO is pretty toterant, have won 8 pullmans on ebay before went for my op and she didnt freak!

She also will by items for me, is a loyal customer with hattons!

Am back home now, going to have to be arm chair modelling as am not aloud to do lifting etc...

The pain killers that they have put me on are strong, not going to stay on these for long, dont like the side affects, been drunk without the drinking and am always hot (lucky I have my own nurse!!)

All my ebay purchases should be here so will have some new projects to start on

Will have to plan other jobs to fill my 2 weeks off work

Not aloud to drive either, not able to push the clutch pedal and not going to hire an automatic just to get around and SWMBO would have a benny!

Should of built me a smaller layout!

Just a quick update,

Went down to the GP this morning hoping to get the all clear to return to work on light duties. Doc had other ideas, has signed me off for another 2 weeks at least! He says that with my job in hotels I wouldn't be trusted not to over do things like just lift this barrel, move that stack of chairs. Dispite my insistance that as The Manager, I have little people to do all that, he won the discussion.

Its not that I mind been off work, or the lack of money, but have you ever seen the crap on day time telly! I am so bored!!

With streching and lifting still off limits, I am limited to what modelling I can do, and as good as this forum is, it doesn't fill my day and I keep ending up on ebay, which is a bad idea with the cash flow now just trickling

In the grand scheme of things this is only a little thing but I feel better for sharing it with you guys (and girls, mustn't forget Mad Kitten!)

So please post lots for me to read

Mind you Brian I'm surprised that you actually find things on ebay - last time I looked there was nothing that interested me.

Its not only railway I look at, mainly because things go for stupid money, but I am looking for a new tent (mine blew down last year after only 2 outings) diecast corvettes (cars not ships) even looked up full size cars, candles for my wedding, the list goes on......

But mainly because its better than watching Judge Judy and all those American chat shows (sorry to all our US members, but why go on tele to annouce whos the father of your baby)

Had a couple of good deals lately, a Ivatt 4 mogal for under £50 and 8 pullmans also for under £50
