I dont have a "Work Bench" as such, I am just trialing with how to Ballast for the time being. Here are a few photos. Note this is the first time I have every done any ballasting so its not at its best. The track is old stuff from my old layout apart from the points and buffer stops.

And this is a full photo of the "Bench"

This is as far I have got as it comes to "track pinned down". I am converting the loft for use for my DCC layout, but I am getting there.

Welcome to the forum.
You seem to have an interesting mix of stock. Is that all you have at the moment or are there more interesting items lurking? I've got a 29 myself, it went to the 'shop and came out black, (check out my gallery) not prototypical but I like it.
A good start, the thing to remember is that ballasting takes time, it seems that unless you are overly blessed with talent in that department, it takes a long time.
Just been doing some on Milldale, it took me 2 1/2 hours to do 4' of twin track with two points in between platforms. Still now that the platform tops have been put back it looks the "mutts nuts" will post some pics when Bro sends me some, I had to return home before the glue had dried so haven't got any yet.

Hi Andii,
I dont have a lot at this moment to be honest, all I have got are:

Hornby Virgin Trains Pendolino DCC Sets (come with Select) X2 sets. (One has been renamed and renumbered to Virgin Lionheart, as chosen by my mother.)
Bachmann Intermodal Containers in Malcolm Colours (just the 2 at the mo)
And the Green loco which I dont know it's class, number on the loco is D6110, any ideas?

I have got as pre-order Bachmann's Class 66 Stobart Rail loco, which will be used to haul the Malcolm intermodal containers.

I also have a lot of old stuff which my father had on his layout from many years ago but unfortunatly nothing works and parts from inside the locos are missing as well, so perhaps I would build a siding non powered with those sitting there as a pernament feature.
Also a selection of old coaches, which I am hoping to change the wheels as they are plastic and are not very good runners so will change those to metal wheels and lubricate them and perhaps a repant, I dont know yet.

My main concern is just getting the loft renovated so I can build the base boards etc etc. I have rough ideas of where things will go etc, but I think when done it will be a tricky layout as all will be DCC apart from 1 line which will operate non-dcc items such as Bachmann Voyager train which I have plans to buy in the future. I keep buying odd bits and bobs which I just put into storage so when the loft is done, I dont have to keep waiting around for parts to be delivered as I have no alternative but to order over the internet as I am always working during shop opening times.

Think thats a detailed enough description for now, will keep posted on the developments once the loft has been sorted.

That was their polite name - I don't think the BR board would have liked them that much..........

The very last of them, 6121 or 6122 depending on which cab you looked at, survived at Woodhams Barry until about may '85 when it was cut up, along with D601 (Warship), 92085 and an ex-GWR 2-6-2T.

Regards
Thanks for clearing that one up. have added a sticker under the loco so I remember in the futute.

Cheers
