That's not the only way to use the system to drive your trains. The virtual cab view is only one option.
The normal driving cab is similar to the screen on an ECoS or Commander.

According to the information given so far, it seems the images seen through the cab windows can be photos or video and if I read it correctly, live video from a camera in the subject model train cab.
