QUOTE (PAPPA.B @ 13 Oct 2012, 19:33) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hi Anthony When you checked your b2b what did you find? When checking mine i found they came out at 14.2.
Did you buy the whole set of Tracksetta and how much did you pay?
I'm glad that you decided to use the whole garage it shows in a model that has great potential and i must say is looking good so far. I'm a steam buff and not really into modern but I like what doing and have been following your progress thanks for sharing. Cheers Jim

Hi Jim,

When checking my b2b's I found a mixed bag really some things the b2b tool fit into perfect but i found a lot between 12.5 and 13.8 quite a lot of the ones that were wrong where new items mainly Hornby im sorry to say and this had a huge impact on the peco point work but once I set them all with the b2b tool they ran perfect this is why im not testing every thing before I put it onto the track.

As for the track setters I only bought 2, a straight and a 42" curve as they are not cheap i think i paid around £6 for each of them, now that's not to say that all my curves are 42" ( I wish ) but i used the 42" track setter to align the track to the point and pined the first few inches then reduced the curve as needed and so far this has worked out ok.

I have to say I am happy with the decision to break up my first layout and go around the outer edge of the whole garage but I was unsure for a while as it took ages to rebuild the frame as I'm not that good with wood in fact this whole thing from starting almost 2 years ago is new to me as im not what I would call artistic in any way.

Everything im doing on my layout now has come from someone else really my track plan is bits from layouts I have seen on here or at shows and how Im doing things is mainly from this forum so on behalf of everyone on this forum who doesn't know they are building my layout I thank you and them for the comments

This is a photo of the tools I have used for my track laying :-

Hi Anthony thanks for your reply it's interesting that you have a tool for adjusting the b2b or have i mis understood. I to have a lot of Hornby also Bachmann they all seem to be small including the loco's i was hoping that they will run ok on the code75 i shall have to get a move on and put some track down to check.
Whilst you have found a lot of good advice on here as have i you still have to physically put that into practice which you have done and i'm sure will continue to. Cheers Jim

Hi Anthony just had a look through your layout thread and you have a great layout in the making and I am looking forward to seeing more as you go,I have also subscribed to your youtube account and it's a nice feeling watching trains run round after having laid some track,I'm hoping to start running mine again once I have got the upper level done which might be another week or two.

Hi Dynamite26,

Thanks for the post and yes it a bit of a milestone getting enough track connected and powered so you can run logos ...... it feels like a very long time since I had been able to do that.

I still have a few more lines to lay and then my track laying days are over for a while providing the testing goes well ..... fingers crossed.

I have not had any time on the layout over the past few days but I have been building some of the things I'm looking to use in the oil terminal area.

Anthony.
