A £2m facelift for Liverpool's Lime Street station has just been completed. The station recently tied at the bottom of a customer satisfaction survey of mainline stations with Croyden and Birmingham New Street. Mersey Rail hope this facelift will change that.

That's excellent news David! More room for New St to wallow in at the bottom of the satisfaction table...perhaps the politicians will eventually get round to spotting that there are places other than in London that serve huge numbers of passengers and are in serious need of improvement....forget a glass roof facelift - New St needs a reincarnation!!

I think Birmingham's name is the problem - it sounds so boring, and despite being the Second City it rarely gets mentioned by anybody on television or radio or in the news I have noticed over the years...perhaps it needs to be rebranded with a more modern and edgy name...
