I got a copy of this in HMV on Saturday. "Off the beaten track" is an accurate description as there are hardly any trains in it at all, so if that's your only reason for buying, you can give this volume a miss. Having said that, I don't regret buying it as I have found it to be an interesting watch.

The absence of railways does not detract from the quality of the films presented; "Between the Tides" was nominated for an Oscar in 1958 and awarded fifteen international honours. "Wild Wings" went one better in 1966 being awarded an Oscar for best short live action subject.

Lovers of Scotland will not be disappointed by the two films based there. The mind boggles at the story of the four BRS drivers who were billeted in an old railway coach at Killin station five days a week for two years while they made twice daily trips to the Giorra Dam site with 7.5 ton loads of cement in the four lorries. During their assignment they delivered 20,000 tons of the stuff.
