I bought a peco loco about a month ago and after about 2 weeks of (light) use i started to have problems with the picking up of power. the contacts turned black due to corrosion. I have tried meths and even white vinigar on cotton buds but it WILL NOT COME OFF

is this just me or is it a common problem?
is there any way to solve it?
Welcome all advice

Does the locomotive run erratic? or not at all? Is the power pickup strip, copper or stainless steel.
SS material can go black in colour when an electric current has passed through it, difficult to remove but still able to act as a conductor of electricity.

***The locolift uses phosphor bronze which is a brown colour to start with. It should clean the same way track is cleaned. If all else fails use a kitchen scouring pad (wire wool).
