I think slide switches are probably going to be too stiff for the point motor to operate.
What about a PECO PL-33 enclosed micro-switch (or similar)? Put this on the opposite side of the point to the point motor so that it is operated by the movement of the tie-bar. Or it might be able to go on the non-point side of the motor. It may need some packing underneath to get the switch to the right height.
I have not tried this out, but it seems to be a possibility.
