Have to say i am getting more and more convinced to get a couple of these each time i look at the pictures. Won't do my bank balance any good, but oh well.
I have to admit that on my one as well one of the nose ends is a bit loose ... Well it pops out! Nothing major as it just needs some glue to put in back into place.
I don't know what your rights are but you might be able to claim some compensation as well from the postal service for damage to the item - Don't quote me on it though!

Out of curiosity, would this make it easier to paint the nose to cut down on the light bleed?

Well the nose itself is a seperate moulding and just plugs into the main body and presumably doesn't take that much effort (Mine certainly didn't) to remove it and then paint it and refit it.
