The S160 was pretty rudimentary and they went to the Vulcan Foundry at Newton-le-Willows to be given suitable fittings etc, even so one of them exploded in a tunnel on 30th August 1944 when it was working from Neasden to Woodford passing through Sudbury tunnel that said up to that time there had been 235 boiler explosions on British Railways, however the S160 went to Europe and quite a few of them blew up whilst in Germany.
