Point detection

Hi All,

After looking at the points on the layout i would like a way of them switching if a loco is approaching a point set against it ... in an automatic method but still allowing me to use the control panel when i want using a switch.

Can this be taken care of via an infrared device .... or is there another way ?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Have a look at Richard's MasterSwitch products which allow for exactly that type of operation. Even some DCC stationary decoders can also perform this function too. Depends if you like having gapped rail sections or whether you prefer LDR style of detection (Light Dependant Resistor - or similar!)

***Easily achieved with our 8 channel optical detector + MASTERswitch V2 or PLUS - just install a sensor in the approach track (one small hole drilled between the rails) and insert the LDR. Link this output of the detector to a MASTERswitch via a small opto board we supply at no charge and its done. This can be in parallel with a switch so you don't lose the bility to over-ride the sensor manually.

If you want to do this in several places we can supply MS as a customised package with all accessories for this style of use (replace DPDT switches with PB switches etc) at either no or very little added cost. It helps if you send a sketch of the overall plan to us so we can tailor the numbers of sensors etc supplied to meet your needs.

regards

Richard
