*** Good heavens, that really is a long time to wait!. Installation of a DCC decoder is not difficult in most N gauge loco's and We usually turn them around in approximately one week, maximum two if we are extremely busy - I would suspect that most who offer an installation service do the same.

I would recommend that you collect your locomotive and find another installer - I am way too far away from you to help (We are in Australia) however I think there are a couple of UK based people on this list that do installations so hopefully one of them may PM you to offer his services.

Kind regards and very best wishes to you and all MRF members for a Merry Christmas and a New Year full of smiles

Regards

Richard

From personal experience I would recommend Digitrains. When I spoke to them the other day he reckoned about the middle of January to get over the Christmas rush and back to normal.

I would be intrigued to know who you are having problems with as I had a great deal of difficulty myself with one well advertised firm and had to resort to threatening Police action for theft just to get my models back from them never mind actually doing the agreed work. I have kept a copy of my original log of my dealings with this firm including telephone calls and emails. If it is the same firm it may be of help to you in the future. PM me if need be.
Just a little off-topic but all new Dapol locos are DCC Ready. Fitted with DCC board and ready for you to fit your own 6-pin decoder of your choice. All locos are very easy to convert : literally 30 - 60 seconds. This will now be the standard for ALL future dapol locos.

It's just a shame they can't wire them correctly. The 9F runs backwards unless you tweak CV29.

Hi there. I have only joined the MRF today so am new to all this. I do, however, have some experience of having DCC chips installed into N Gauge locos and can thoroughly recommend Digitrains who have just completed 12 locos for me, including a tiny GWR 0-6-0 which I thought would be impossible. If you call Chris on 01526 328633 I am sure he will be able to help you. Hope this helps. Expat
