hi general enquiry

thinking of building a small o guage garden railway. what is the minimum radius recomended if running small tank engines, terrier for example. how long would a tank engine + 3 coaches ( mk 1 ) be. can anyone recomend a good quality kit for a terrier suitable for a average modeller building his 1st o guage loco.

thanks

The smallest radius that the GOG use is 6ft but you can use 5ft but need short wheelbase locos, I have a 4-4-0 that will not go round less than 6ft so in the garden that is what I would use. The length of train you suggest would be about 6ft long, allow 21ins for coaches and say 9ins for a terrior and 15ins for an 0-6-0 tender loco.

If you are going down the 7mm scale route join the Gauge O Guild as the information that is available from them, plus the trade shows is well worth the subs, I've been a member since 1972 and have always found the guild a very good place for info and where to get bits. Have a look at the web site there is a lot of info even if you are not a member.
