Any news re: the trainload coal model? I haven't heard anything since I sent off my printed (from the computer) order form!

Delivery dates? Have they sold out (Might order another one!)

I think i read in the last issue that delivery was going to be early 2006. Typical for Rail express as the mag is always slow in hitting the shops around the later stages of the year. I wonder if they'll be as harsh on their own model as some f the othr stuff they review!!
No, they won't. I read Model Rail, and whenever their L/Es come out, they give 'em a nice review (E.G. Bachmann Cl. 40, Revised B/mann 20s).

Still, I hope it will be as nice as it looks in the pre-pros!
When I queried this with them at their Warley stand they said it is due for delivery in January 2006.

Hope that helps.

I too read model rail and find their reviews to be less ooh whats the word --- spiteful, derogatory, insultive, hysterical, tabloidesque(if that makes sense), self righteous, sneering and just downright negative than those in rail express.
So i expect to be pilloried in the february issue then id they read this. At least with model rail you can air your views openly.

Yes, they're so much more positive- when the original Bachmann Cl. 37 came out, they were very supportive.

They also support minor manufacturers much more- e.g. BPM- they always offer constructive comments. I was flicking through Rail Express, and they practically destroyed the BPM Serco T/Coach, which I though was quite nice!

But, anyway, that's off topic!

I've got the old lima model of this loco and have seen the real thing at the battlefield line minus nameplates at the time it was a couple of years ago and they were having a naming ceremony for D5518 which was nice. Not a bad place to go but in the middle of nowhere as most preserved lines are and no signs back to the main road.
The thing that puts me off magazine limited editions is that you pay top whack in the first place, struggle to get one then find half of them for sale on ebay for double the price 2 days after they are delivered. Same with the "collectors editions" done by manufacturers.
