While I don't buy every month these days due to costs, the last two months I was looking for one and there does not seem to be any in my local shops. Is it a case of the magazine is in short supply where I live or have they ceased production. For the last two weeks I've visited a few places where I've seen them for sale in the past only to find the other magazines but no R.M's.
Strange, eh! Maybe a model of something local was on the front page?

Whereabouts are you? UK?
I'm near Warrington and my local (small) Asda and Tescos stock it!
AFAIK, it's still going very happily. I certainly hope so, I find it the best of the regular bunch.
Cheers,
John.

Thanks. Glad it is still going. Was beginning to puzzle. I live in Wales, UK.
Refuse to shop in Tescos due to their discriminating practices in security. It has such a bad reputation I wouldn't shop there if I was paid to. (Actually have been paid to shop there in the past....Wouldn't now though). Such a shame as I liked their products.
Don't normally shop in Asda due to parking. A decent store and brilliant staff, but sadly parking is such an issue that it is not worth the effort. And there are plans for a self serve filling station that will gobble up a further 40 spaces! Ah well.
Morrison's and WH Smiths and local newsagents usually have the RM in stock but lately none there. WH Smith always send their stock back before the month actually starts so one needs to be quick to shop there as they put many copies out but they are only there a few days!
Could just be a lot buying them down my way. Maybe someone local has a layout and bought them all up? Could be!

Went to look in Morrison's today. No RM's there. Usually has them. It's been three months now I've not seen them down my way. They had been quite plentiful. Well. I guess it saves me quite a lot of money! Not seen the Hornby Magazine there either. Only BRM and Model Rail seems available. These two are at each shop that used to sell the others.
Strange eh! Could we have a huge increase in the hobby in these parts? Could be...

My subscription copy came in the post today (October issue). My local Sainsbury's always seems to have it. I have read on another forum that a WH Smith's had taken their copies of RM and others and placed them behind the cashiers as they were being nicked! So it might be worth asking in case that's happened near you.

Try the Exact Editions website for a 'Railway Modeller' e-copy.
3 months for 9.50 Sterling. I think 38.50 sterling for the year.
You get access to archive copies going back about five years. Pages can be saved as .pdfs for your own hard drive or whatever storage you favour.

I've actually got one! I have not seen any via usual places that sell them near here like Smiths, Morrison's etc BUT... I found an October copy in a shop I have never ever seen any in the past... The CO-OP. Totally unexpected! Shame I have missed a few months though. Ah well. I missed well over a year in the past when a local newsagents told me (Back in the 1990's) that Railway Modeller had ceased trading. I was annoyed when I found out they had not. All he had to do was say he would rather not order me a copy. Such is life I guess.
The good point is that I have saved spending money on magazines! Actually as I write this I am waiting for glue to dry on my layout so rather then read about other peoples lovely creations, I'm making my own! And the possibilities are much better now as I've managed to find wood from the beach suitable to complete a second board! Yay!

I subscribe to the electronic editions of both Railway Modeller and Hornby Magazine.
Always available to read on the second Thursday of the month.

Do the local newsagents still deliver newspapers and magazines to homes in the UK?

I had taken some of my old model railway magazines to the free book place that is fairly local. Now I had seen Railway Modellers in the shops and while some I bought, often my budget just didn't stretch to a magazine. However, when I looked in the free book place as we were in the area donating things, I looked to see if anyone had taken the magazines and I think I've started a trend as others have donated their model railway magazines and... I was able to get a magazine I wanted but couldn't afford at the time. It is 2012 RM (august) and has a lovely 0 gauge garden railway in it. I love garden railways and there is something good and chunky about 0 gauge. I've only ever owned a clockwork chassis with a wheel missing (Found in Llanelli dock by a metal detector friend). I gave it away to others who could use it. I'd love 0 gauge in the garden but for the big cost. Even wheels for scratch building wagons are silly prices! Way over five pounds per wagon when I looked last. I did have a thought... Would code 100 rail be used or would the profile be too low?
Anyway. I'm happy to have the magazine. Keep me busy for another couple of evenings!!!
