Fred Dibnah's Railway Collection is being re-run, starting today, 14:00 to 14:30 repeated 18:00 to 18:30 weekdays on Freeview channel 12
Forgot to add 18/07/2012 Wed 20:00 to 21:00 Channel5: World's Fastest Train - The making of the AGV.
I know from on here that the London UndergrounD has a following, so channel 5's offering on Friday 13/07/2012 from 19:00 to 20:00 "Building the London Underground" will no doubt appeal. There are also references to the New York City Subway and the Paris Metro.

There is a programme "How Britain Worked" coming up on Sun 21/10/2012 from 20:00 to 21:00 on Channel 4
The summary reads:
"Engineering enthusiast Guy Martin ....... begins by overhauling a steam locomotive currently in use on the Severn Valley Railway, repairing its boiler, safety valves and one of its two-ton wheels. He also lays some track using the same methods as the notorious `navvies' - the notorious, hard-living labourers who laid Britain's entire railway infrastructure by hand.".
This is part 1 of a series of 6 programmes.
Worth a second look:

'The Last Days of Steam', BBC4 Sunday 18/11/2012, 19:00 to 20:00

QUOTE (James1984 @ 13 Dec 2012, 19:51) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>...... how long it will take before someone ups and punches Chris Tarrant for his terrible Australian accent!
They may just push a custard pie in his face & shout 'Tiswas'

Well he's off on his travels again. Micheal Portillo is still clutching his Bradshaw's and in a new series starting on Jan 7th BBC2 18:30 to19:00 travels from High Wycombe to Stratford-upon-Avon.
I'd like to see the West Somerset Railway reaching Taunton, there's been much talk of it happening, but I haven't found anyone who will give a date for it.
Another programme of railway interest 'More Industrial Revelations Europe - The Impossible Railway', Monday 07/01/2013, 16:30 to 17:00, Channel 38 Quest.
Advance notice: Another series of three programmes starts on Tuesday Jan 15th at 21:00 on BBC2 called 'Locomotion: Dan Snow's History of Railways'.
