QUOTE (Bizman @ 20 Nov 2016, 09:11) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I didn't mention this film as it was on recently, but you may have missed it:

08/12/2016 (Thu) 15:35 to 18:15 Film4 "The Train" - Thriller. [1965] A true story of wartime heroism about a French railway inspector who goes up against the Nazis in order to prevent a trainload of France's most treasured paintings from being stolen.

Hi Ron.
I've watched that film several times.
A real classic

I've just got myself a pre-owned Humax HDR Fox T2 PVR as my existing machine is SD only, so I will record the HD version on LCN45. I have only caught the last 15 minutes of the film when it was last on, so I know how it ends.

I watched the 'Flying Scotsman from the footplate' programme and it occurred to me that since I was unfamiliar with the Severn Valley Railway, it would add interest if I logged on to streetmap.com and followed the progress as it went along. i found it gave me a greater sense of being there.

"Flying Scotsman From The Footplate" was excellent. It showed what the BBC can do with a properly thought out documentary. The crew were entertaining (once they got 60103 to move!), the camera work in-cab and lineside was excellent and just left to record things as they happened with no superfluous waffle or unnecessary incorrect facts. Great sound too and oddly the chime whistle sounded very weak from the footplate. Brilliant programme!

That whistle sounded very odd! Almost as if too much pressure was being supplied.

Sounded ok when they crowed it, but then with a bit more pressure, it sounded.............odd!
