I have quite a bit of stuff coming so rather than post in New Locos / Rolling stock etc have started this thread. Much is being funded a steady sell-off of my analogue UK stock

Many Thanks Brian.

I have 1 Piko loco - a Taurus Limited Edition from Porsche. I will have a look at the coach rolling stock now as well

I noted the Roco 1:100 and ironically thought the same thing as y comment ie re looks and curves. I may get a couple to try as they are considerably lower cost.

QUOTE (Brian Considine @ 6 Apr 2013, 18:09) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The 1:100 scale refers to the length of the coach - in all others aspects they are 1:87.

The 1:100 can look better on tight curves than the 1:87 ones, but it's really down to personal preference.

As regards Fleischmann or Roco, that depends on when the items were made - early Fleischmann was very robust & would keep going with very little attention. Early Roco was nearly as good but had the edge on running.

Over the years, they have got more even & now, of couse they are owned by the same company & the "individuallities" getting more or more erroded.

If you are looking towards Europe check out current Piko - stands well against Fleischmann & Roco & far less money (beware of the older "Eastern Germany" Piko though.

You will have to post photos Reddo.
I must admit the European HO looks really good.
I have a couple of red and black locos but am trying not to get addicted to this market as well.

I do really like the rolling stock you have shown in the past.
Will have to stop looking as I feel my wallet might take another bashing

Cheers Guys - appreciate all the comments as its all a bit of a leap into the unknown at the moment.

I have been using the Roco website http://www.roco.cc/en/home/index.html as my datum point for my research into this all this week.

I then search for best prices (incl Free delivery and any credit card charges) between sellers on ebay DE sites, Gaugemaster sales and online DE shops direct

The new Roco catalogue is also out and available on pdf http://ebookbrowse.com/nh-katalog-2013-ro-...-pdf-d456345198

Will re-post pics of the locos I have bought to date shortly for completeness, another one arrived yesterday and a few are coming in the next 10-14 days. They are in batches so I could negotiate best prices and free delivery.

As y'all have said - its really rather addictive but am enjoying researching between the liveries applied between EP IV, V and VI and the locos to which they are applied, plus the subtle differences in the Roco model offerings eg scissor v later pantographs. This is however leading me to probably having to add a catenary system to one of the loops on the layout - maybe the Dapol system and whilst not prototypical is good VFM

One thing I am trying to identify (in light of Brian's comments re improvement in later models) is the difference between code 62XXX locos and newer code 72xxx locos

That's a nice set of stock you are acquiring there!

We have a soft spot for current / Epoch VI passenger trains. There's something about the liveries (OBB Railjet) or design (SBB IC2000) which appeals to us. Then there's all those loco livery variations like the SBB Re460s or OBB Taurus. This livery

to celebrate 175 years of the OBB is going to be hard to resist.

Well as you have commented about catenary.

Unfortunately its one of those things where you get what you pay for. Nothing beats Sommerfeldt. It is the best, its the most robust and it looks the part. One step down in terms of masts is the new MaTrix stuff, then there is the rest. It is IMHO most important to get good wire as opposed to that old stamped stuff.

But what is well worth purchasing is the Sommerfeldt book on laying the stuff. Lots of good ideas and practical help.

Cheers

Welcome aboard reddo.
If you can travel from Munich to Dortmund in the following days, Intermodelbau is opening its doors.
It's a place you definitely have to visit.

Reddo, nice locos with spectacular colour schemes. I notice the box the 2nd electric loco came in quite large for the loco. The DRG BR23 I received came in a similar sized box. Inside the loco was in a clear plastic display case with a plastic base complete with rails and ballast profile. Loco is held in place with a pair of large metal thumb screws. It would be nice if Roco adopted this for most of it's models. Beats that polystyrene hands down.

Hi Reddo, some excellent stock / locos you now have there, I really like the silver Museum loco, very nice indeed. I have a feeling its going to be an expensive summer, but one thats very very rewarding.

Look forward to future posts, good hunting, Cheers,
