Hi all. This is a cry for help.

Remagen has her first outing st the end of November and be still got a mountain of work to do. One on my weak point is electrics, and while Remagen is a relatively simple layout to wire, it's still something I'm not too far along with.

Where I need the main help is making up a series of jumper cables to comment the control panels to the boards. I'm using 25 pin 'D' sockets. The ones you can buy from Maplin are for computers and the wires are too lightweight.

If anyone would be willing to help make up some cables, that would be greatly appreciated. PM me and I'll discuss things further with you.

Cheers. Al.

QUOTE (Al @ 28 Feb 2010, 13:06) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I got hold of a bit more river traffic the other day. I'm planning three of these S-100 E-Boats on a training cruise along the Rhine.

It's a 1:100 scale card model made by WAK in Poland. They do a whole host of stuff - ships, planes, cars - in various scales. www.wak.pl

I've reduce the sheets down to 1:160 scale on a photocopier and once I feel brave enough get started.

Do you remember this post from many years ago. Well, it was always the intension to have three or so E-Boats on the river to compliment the paddle steamer. This bit of scenery has been low priority for a long while, but progressing slowly in the back ground. Anyway, the Wak paper model got reduced down in scale via a photocopier and used as a template to make a couple of boat hulls. Like these two here...

And over many months one of them finally ended up in good enough condition to use a a pattern to run off a few cast resin hull.

I've started adding more detail. Guns and bridge still to go on, but I think they're looking ok.

*** Hi Al

Please show me the control panel face design and explain the connection usage. Also give me the approximate overall layout dimensions.

I may have a DC or DCC based solution for you (works equally well for both) that makes it all VERY easy and reliable for show use.

By PM if you prefer for the initial contact.

Regards

Richard

I've spend a bit more time on the West Bank scenery. What used to be yellow has turned white and is slowly turning green. The big hold up in the area is getting the two trench systems built and installed. I'm pretty much the with the smaller support trench that sits on the north side of the bridge, but still a bit behind on the larger infantry trench that's on the south side. Once finished and installed I can get on with flocking....

Warley is less than 100 days away and I've got a massive amount of work to do to get Remagen anywhere near exhibition ready.

The big priority right now is the get the basic scatter done on boards 3 & 4 so I can split the boards and attach them to the boards at the other ends. To this ends its been more flocking tonight. Bit more tomorrow to finish off.

Update on the Br-05.
Armoured plates attached.

They still need a tiny by of work to get them right, but I need to rest run the loco to ensure I've not fouled the valve gear. Unfortunately I dropped the loco while attaching the plates and broke the coupling to the tender and will need to get a new one from Arnold. I'll Jerry rig it this afternoon and see how it goes.

Today has been pretty much a housekeeping day. The layouts been taken apart and moved out of the workshop. The room has been swept clean and the layout reassembled. With the west bank board flocked, it got bolted up against the bridge. And I must say it looks pretty damn good.

I've also been playing around with trees. The main area I'm looking at is the apple orchard beside the farm. I've got the spacing looking right, so all I need now is the rest of the trees...... All 70 of them....

Not seen this layout for a while and I must say it is looking absolutely fabulous. Love those trenches by the bridge entrance

Scenery is progressing steadily on the West Bank board. It's almost fully flocked and ready to start adding the details.

But there's still a lot to do. The sun feature of board 6 is the Apollinariskirche church which will sit over the top of the hidden sidings. It's a very impressive church that dominates the Remagen skyline. I've mocked up a very basic outline of the church and started to play around with final positioning.

I received the exhibitors pack for Warley today and can confirm we're stand B59 near the centre of the hall. Please come give us a visit.

Back to the layout and long over due update.
The west back scenic board has progress nicely and not far off being finished. I've also moved onto the next adjacent board and started covering it with modroc.

The other big development is I've finally turn my hand to tackling the river. After many hours of research, I opted for the toilet roll method. It was supervisingly easy to do. Just three layer of paper, each glues down with a 50/50 pva/water mix. Once the top layer is down, it's an easy process to making all the boat wakes. What it does need to lots of time to dry out. I had to wait 96 hours before it had gone hard, and then a further 72hours before painting it.

And the final bit of update, I've finally got round to painting the Erpeler Ley anti aircraft unit.

They go right up top there...

And this is how the look.

Looks superb Al. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at Warley in November. Love military vehicles as well as trains so this layout will no doubt impress me.

Great work

Update on the river.

It got a base coat of green over the weekend, and the past two nights have seen a brown/green second coat added to give it a more mucky river look. I'm not too happy with it so far as to my eye it still looks too green. Tomorrow I'll give it a third coat of brown to tone it all down some more.

At this rate it'll be the weekend before the varnish goes on.
