Revell Diesel locomotive

Modelzone currently have an offer for the Revell DR 132 (BR 232) they are selling the kits for a stunning £7!!

I got a couple and i am looking for suitable motor bogies (it will probably end up being a bull ant but i havent decided yet.)

Have any of you made one of these? how accurate are they?

Anyone fancy making this a group thing? how about we each get one and build them together?

Looks interesting. Brawa and Roco make these locos. How much do spare chassis sell for?

I had thought if that but i think i will want to keep the quite extensive interior detail. there is the compartment at the end that should be about right for a bull ant or lima or hornby power bogie.

In our experience about the cost of a complete locomotive !

I just thought i would add a couple of pictures to show what you get.

This is a recent kit (2001) and there is virtually no flash at all. all a far cry from the ratio kits!

That looks pretty comprehensive. As to power would the old Hornby 52 bogie fit?

IIRC Pedro often passes the store in High Holborn. The map suggests it's close to where Beatties used to be.

it actually is the old beatties store.
same shop, same shop fittings....... all thats changed is the name!

I will try and find them on the website this afternoon.

Peter, I think that you are going to have to buy us each one. I can't see it on the Modelzone group website.

A few kits are available on eBay, but not for 7 squid. More like Double that. There is one shop selling a few other Revell train kits on eBay. £14 for a 1:87 Big Boy. I just might have one of those...

The steam loco's are nice models but i wish they hadnt done the valve gear as a single piece. it cant be motorised and really is just a static kit.

I think so. although i am really not sure how to use it! i have only ever used it for paying for things on ebay.

The 232 "Ludmilla" is one of my favourite European locos, big, ugly and dirty. I had a look round one a few years ago and they really are impressive.

As to a kit I regrettably have to turn the offer down.

I asked about the website yesterday and the girl said "oah we dont put evrything on there, just a small selection". Horliks!
