Welcome to MRF John & thanks for the pictures.

I especially liked pic' no 3 with the boarded up windows - it's these little things that bring real life & atmosphere to a layout.

Considering its an 8ft x 6ft layout its got plenty to keep you busy/occupied, looks great, amazing what can be acheived in a small area, well done

Very neat. I rather like the way you've carried the sky/clouds across the inside of the roof - does help to reduce the impression of being in a shed.

I assume the train on the wall at the back in the first picture is the 'Hogwarts Express'

Hi again John,

I've just had another closer look at those pictures & totally missed the fact that the layout is in a space of 8' x 6'. There is so much there & yet it does not look cramped at all - I think the way the sides & ceiling are painted helps.

Lot's of little extras to add the right sort of life - modelling at it's best - another layout I would love to see "in the flesh".

Hi John

Excellent work, I agree with dbclass50 - painting the sky all round gives a huge image of space.

I had to look at this for a while before I realised it was a model.

Welcome and keep up the good work.

To be fare the pictures of the viaduct were taken outside. The viaduct spans the doorway and therefore lifts out.

I took the lift out section up onto the moors to take these pictures.

It doesnt look quite as good when its in position although with the shed door open I can still get a real sky

Hi John and a very warm welcome to the MRF.

Your layout is an absolute inspiration and just about the best example I have seen of what can be done in a comparatively small space. It's obviously been, and no doubt continues to be, a labour of love.

The little dioramas you have created are what brings a model to life.

I only hope my layout turns out half as good as yours.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Expat.

Well that explains the lighting effect, which was probably what caused me to think it was real.

Incidentally it's only when I looked at the picture on the rook of the car that i realised how tall the trees are - it's nice to see scale height trees.

I have had a post on another forum commenting that I made made his blood run cold as the top climber was not roped on, I took it as a compliment that it must have looked reasonably realistic !!!
