QUOTE (dbclass50 @ 2 May 2008, 22:30) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Coming along very well - thanks for the update.
Not had much time this weekend to do much but such is life. I did get some filler and guard rails inside the main rails yesterday
Then I had a couple of hours this evening to cover the top with some scalescenes cobbles..
I had contemplated doing the top as concrete as it would be easier than cutting the card round the rails, but I think it turned out okay. It will look better when it is covered with genral harbour clutter. Im on the lookout for some 1:76 fishing boats now.

Anchor Precision Models used to do a great range of fishing boats but they, or rather he, is unfortunately no longer producing them. Arcitec seems to be the go now as they do a couple of fishing boats. I think Langley Models sell them in the UK.
Thats really helpfull David, especially the colours which is the next job after todays activity in the shed.
I spent 30 minutes on google images looking for fishing boats and got an idea in my mind of what the key details were, then I went down to the shed and set to work. Im sure there is an ex trawler captain reading this that can spot all my deliberate mistakes but the idea was to capture a flavour of a trawler. It will look better when painted and rigged !!
After a bit of considering I have decided I will live with the masts being to thick as has been pointed out.. Im happy with it being wrong and am just pleased that on my first attempt at scracth building a fishing boat at least everyone can tell what it is ment to be. !!

If I attempted to build the same & it came out anywhere near that I would be pleased too.
Although I'm no expert on fishing boats, it looks good to me & certainly captures the spiret, which to me is the most important thing.
probably inspired by layouts at the exhibition I went to yesterday I have had a flash of inspiration for the terminus.
I like multi level lines but it is to small ..... Perhaps not, a completley seperate upper line on a viaduct with workshops underneath. (cue more scalescenes
)
At the left an end of line station, just enough room for a platform with canopy and very low relief building.
At the right the line leaves on the straight rear to an upper level cassette, the branch to the front is just a scenic break for the lower freight terminus.
Ive been working in Manchester centre a few times in the last couple of weeks and was struck by the number of viaducts and elevated sections of track.

Leeds had a lot too. The whole final section of the GNR line into Leeds Central (long since demolished) was on an elevated section. A portion of it still exists. I've heard that there are plans to turn it into a path of some kind.
