Unless I have a problem, for the last 24 hours or so the RM web site has been down.

Has the plug been pulled or is it just a long technical hitch?

Both addresses :- 118go etc and the conventional RMWeb.co.uk both return a "Page cannot be displayed" result!

So what's going on with the oposition??

Andy has posted via DEMU that it is a fault with the forum hosts and hopes to have it up and running again today.
On a technical note hosts worldwide are currently upgrading to the latest release of MYSQL (version 5.0) and this is the database behind all php based websites. There could be issues as a result of this upgrade being undertaken by a host apparently.

It is said that MYSQL version 5 is more robust!

Yep, haven't been able to post there for a couple of days.

They have servers in Germany managed apparantly by tech staff in Asia. This recipe is known as a Bombay Sauerkraut...

That's right. None of the grown ups are.
I have too, tried to link RailwayMB to receive the "Page unavailable" message. Today tried again, nothing is happening, not even the "Page unavailable".

Andy is posting regular updates on progress on the BRM forum which is seeing more activity in a day than it does normally in a month

latest is the server is broke and theyve lost about 95% of the files so Wednesday at the earliest but it will eventually rise again but without some of the really long threads i suspect

PS as far as i am aware Andy is not a member of Demu but several of the more active RMweb members are hence the info on DEMU forum

I thought that he had a back-up disk with most of the Forum contained therein?

So it seems - and these are due to be reinstalled as soon as the hosting provider gets round to it. You won't believe the amount of work I've got done over the last day or so...

Maybe he should talk to Doug about hosting his site ... for a nominal charge of course.
When ours goes down we know to kick "Frenchie".

You've hit the nail on the head there. The really long threads are too heavy

It's not the quantity that counts, its the quality.

If you want 10,000 next to your name you can have it anytime...

Gary,

I believe that RMWeb is written in ASP and runs against a Microsoft SQL Server, so MySQL is not relevant.

No no, it's definately the quantity - ain't it true CK?

Apologies - the influx of RMWeb in-jokes to these forums probably goes down like a lead balloon...
