I've been trying to find a blue CIWL baggage car. I thought I had a old Rivarossi, but it turns out to be a France Trains one.
I'm reluctant to take on a second non-NEM coupled model.

So this was supposed to be here before Christmas. But the deities of international shipping thought otherwise, in spite of an additional fee paid to guarantee priority postage, so it arrived today - two months after it was shipped from Germany.

I've been after a BR 220 in the Era IV blue/beige scheme for a while. It had to be a 220, not 221, because I want to use it in a push-pull train, and the 221 did not have push-pull control. Only three of the real 220s were painted in this livery. Not a lot of H0 models have been made. The old Roco models are analog only, and I wasn't up for the kind of pain that comes with upgrading those to DCC. The current ESU model would obviously have been fantastic, but it was well above my budget. Eventually, I managed to find a unit of the 2014 PIKO 59704 on a shelf somewhere, as new.

A while ago, I got this set of three Roco passenger cars known as 'Silberlinge'. They were supposed to make up the push-pull train mentioned above. Yes, they're 1:100 - I like them that way, and it's much more affordable to get those. They were all second hand but in excellent condition, the cab car had an unopened packet with the detail parts. However, you may notice that there's an odd one out. It's a bit hard to see in the pic, but the bottom car has a black frame and different roof shape, while the top two have dark blue frames. It turned out that I had mixed up the Roco item numbers - I acquired a 4265 when what I wanted was the 4265S.

That mistake has now been rectified, as the loco had the correct car in tow:

Now I can finally put my intended 3-car commuter push-pull train to work - once my layout is all wired up again.

A nice set.
I almost bought a matrix set it when I first started collecting (with a BR23 I think). My only Era IV set is the SBB TEE Bavaria set. The cars in 1:87 are quite long and discouraged me from buying the add-on set.

I do like the V200 series. It would have been awesome to see one back in the day.

Hi all,
I saw this on MSL and couldn't resist, just looks so different

Iv' fitted a Seuthe No11 smoke generator as stated for digital operation, but it seems a bit weak, seem to remember I've had this issue in the past, so I may get the No10 as it works on 12-14 V as opposed to 16-22 and that should give better output of smoke.
While on the subject, if they give you the option to retrofit a smoke generator, why do they make it so difficult on some locos ?
I've fitted many over the years, some are very easy, but some , like this one, aren't, it required removing the drive shaft to the tender, removing a screw on the underside (fair enough) then having to lift
and slide the body up and back in a certain way to release it. I couldn't even employ an old trick I've used before and just push the generator down through the funnel opening, as they had a plastic stopper in the top Also noticed that since I put it back together the front lights aren't working, probably the little clear plastic part has come adrift , so I'm going to have to take it apart again
Rant over, I'm off to order a Seuthe #10

I avoid sound and smoke for exactly those reasons. Not sure why the general thinking is that people that want sound MUST want smoke also. All or nothing - rant over...

If any of you were wondering what had happened to the beautiful Br 62 (Liliput 106201) that was on the 'Rails' Ebay site... I can now tell you that it has been 'transported' and will be put to work in Bulli, NSW.

Absolutely beautiful loco, in outstanding condition and runs like a charm, well worth the money (125 of your English pounds) for mine.
Will take better photos.

Hi Reddo,
That's really interesting that you have the highly prized Liliput set 350031.
350031 is the stock of the 'Henschel-Wegmann Gegenzug'.
So the Blauer Enzian train running between Hamburg and Munich was really an icon of Epoche 3a.
The original Henschel-Wegmann train was refurbished and assigned to the Blauer Enzian in 1953, but of course there had to be an equivalent train running in the opposite direction on each day too. So they put together the 'Gegenzug' - of which you have the model. This included the salonwagen from Goering's train and an observation car which was converted from a Gr 39 wagon (I think)

PS Trix did a version of the 'Blauer Enzian' Henschel-Wegmann Zug recently (23373), while I think it was Lima which did the previous (better ?) version in the 1980s.
The train was electric hauled between Munich and Treuchtlingen, then an 01 to Bebra, an 01.10 to Hannover, then the Altona-based 03 to Hamburg.
By 1956/7 some of the Gegenzug stock was not running so well and the 26.4m wagons came in to use on the train.

While rummaging through MRF I came across this old thread and noted your comment re Trix 23373; I did a check and I also did purchase that set in 2016. I keep telling my wife that when the Grim Reaper comes, to make sure she keeps a copy of my excel spreadsheet to hand when the whole lot has to be sold; the incentive will be that she will then be able to buy a great big red tractor for the farm

Now...the reason I was on here - does anyone know if there is/will be a model of the Class 66 in Crossrail livery eg by Bachmann. I see Mehano have done one but in HO it looks a bit small

Given the number of manufacturers (Hattons, Hornby, Bachmann) who make the 66 in OO scale, I would think if there isn't one now, there will be eventually.

I couldn't resist: it was the last one in store at MSL. Piko LTE BR 187 931-1 in "Lord of the Rails" livery, shown in the first photo straight out of the box, tested on DC, then in the second after fitting a Zimo MX637 decoder and the air pipes at each end. I snipped the pipes to clear the coupling at the #1 end, but removed the coupling and left the full pipes at the #2 end. The red tail lights are flashing, but I wonder if that was because I previously used the decoder in a Swedish locomotive and set that up myself. Still, easily reprogrammed later, when I'm ready.
