I am at the point where I wish to instal signals on parts of my layout. I would appreciate any advice on what signals should be where.

Here are the track plans below.

Neil - bit more information, please.

1. Is the Station a terminus with the two crossovers by the tunnel to the right of the station?

2. Presumeably British and what period/region?

Regards,
John
Neil, I assume that the bridge to the right of the terminus conceals connections to another part of the layout.

In which case if you are using Colour light signals a two or three aspect on each platform as starter signals and a GPL (Ground Position Light) signal on the siding (add a trap point to the siding?)
If you wish to model the radio-token signalling there would be some extra signs as well.

Are the crossovers on the main line (I know little abut the Highland main line) converting a standard two way stretch into two single bi-directional lines, acting as emergency crossovers or what?

Regards,
John
Neil - as emergency cross-overs I guess there would be one signal each line on the approach side of the crossings to halt trains - after that, if in use from a local ground frame, I think movements might be hand-signalled once the train was halted at the signal.

But if you cannot find out what the prototype does exactly, I can ask some signalling acquaintances on another forum for help.

Regards,
John
