QUOTE (Merry Go Round @ 24 Apr 2007, 19:28) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hello, I am looking for a scale plan of Swanage & Bournemouth West around the post war period, all the track diagrams I have found are not to scale or do not give any idea of scale. Could someone please help and tell me if they know of any sources for plans for the above 2 stations.

many thanks
Have you looked at the Middleton press Swanage branch book? sure that had some scale plans in it.
How accurate do you want? Ordnance survey holds all the relevant maps from then which you can get from local licensed mapping shops, it's not cheap but it does have everything on.

QUOTE (BRITHO @ 25 Apr 2007, 16:56) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>A couple of places that may help - the Swanage Railway guide may have something, I don't think the basic track plan has changed much in preservation as there's not much additional space. Also RM did a full article on it probably about summer 1977. You may be able to find this?
Don't go by the current track layout it has been reduced at swanage by the loss of the whole goods yard and the new signalbox is on the opposite side of the line. I think the pointwork is in a different position too. I think the gasworks siding was still there in the 50's as well.

Try this link off the OS page.

Scroll down to "Maps from 1950 to 1995" and select the size plan and date you want. Centre it on the railway station for Swanage, but be careful on the Bournemouth West one, maybe the SWT traincare depot?. They'll email you back with the closest match.
