Don't have the funds to take the trip so I had to settle for seeing her pass

Bittern just south of Grantham

The Talisman was running over half an hour late at this point and while I was waiting for it I saw the following which I thought some of you may be interested in

This train was running DVT first and stopped right by me before running into Grantham station.

Delighted that the Talisman finally got off the blocks.... but what the *[email protected]*# was that other train. As far as I know the DVTs have never appeared in BR blue with with blue and grey coaches, they first turned out in Inter-City raspberry ripple livery. Who was responsible for this fascinating transformation? It's not April 1st after all!

I've been wondering that too!

The 86 + MK3's + DVT are currently on hire to Hull Trains I think, running from Kings Cross to Darlington?? before pasengers transfer to a DMU to complete their journey. I beleive this is because one of Hull Trains Voyager units was damaged in an accident.

That's the 'Cargo D' rake. You're right, the DVTs are from the INTERCITY era. All-over blue is an odd choice. The BGs used with Mk.3s were (nearly*) always blue/grey. More adventurously they could have painted it in the original HST power car style; it's roughly the same shape, after all!

*in case some smart Alec has an odd-ball photo!

Something like the picture here then?

Sorry couldn't figure out how to get that picture on here. There's some cracking pictures on that website, well worth a good look round.

Yeucch! It would have looked a lot better with a grey band I feel - the 86 looks good though.
