[Poppa Mike]

Can anyone help me with the normal distance between Telegraph Poles along the trackside, I seem to remember as a kid (in the 1950's) we could work out the speed of a train by counting how many passed in a minute, so they must have been at a fixed distance apart.

Any suggestions appreciated.
