They do work but you have to be precise where you position what you want to uncouple. I eventually converted to Kadee couplers. It's quite a robust action as it's a solenoid operated that raises a bent plate to lift the hook on the tension lock to uncouple. I seem to remember that if I got it wrong it lifted the stock off the track ! I think we'll rate it as effect for experienced users with good eye sight...............
Perhaps try a small magnet on a thin wooden dowel all you have to do is lift the hook
